New Eeyou Istchee Summer Games Logo Emphasizes Culture, Nostalgia, and Connection to the land

Updated: Apr 26

The revival of the Eeyou Istchee Summer Games comes with a vibrant visual identity, thanks to the collective vision of entities and stakeholders from across the Cree Nation. We are excited to present the new logo and branding to the Cree Nation as we prepare to bring back the Eeyou Istchee Summer Games this July 14-21, 2024!

Unique elements of the new logo and branding include:

  • Sunset-inspired colours: Beautiful sunsets, significant within the Eeyou Istchee Cree Nation, inspire the colour palette and visual elements, infusing the brand with a sense of tranquillity and awe.

  • Imagery of our athletic traditions: The symbolic logo features a portage as well as geese and trees, backed by the sunset. The imagery showcases our long tradition of strength, movement, and connection with the land as we bring these themes forward to a new generation of competitors.

  • Style that evokes cherished memories: Drawing inspiration from retro camping badges, we seek to bring out the familiar warmth and dependability associated with those timeless emblems.

Our aim is to create an aesthetic that not only feels friendly and long-lasting but also has the power to transport individuals to moments of shared joy and communal spirit. In essence, the brand aspires to be a visual representation of the enduring and captivating legacy of the Eeyou Istchee Summer Games.

Partnering Together to Build a Memorable Brand

The new logo, colours, and branding were developed under the guidance of a Steering Committee with representation from the Eeyou Istchee Sports and Recreation Association (EISRA) and its partners, the Cree Nation Government, Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay, Cree Nation Youth Council, Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association, Cree School Board, and the Cree Nation of Mistissini. Thank you to all who contributed to this work!

Apparel and Merchandise Coming Soon!

This logo will be featured on all EISG medals as well as shirts, hats, and other merchandise available at the Games.
